Build up slowly

These points illustrate the general tendencies observed in the data but can also lead to oversimplification. It’s entirely possible for a novice facilitator to plan a bilateral exchange, just as an experienced facilitator may continue to rely on paid services. However, if you’re a novice facilitator, it’s not advisable for you to immediately enact all the practices of the expert facilitator, since these practices usually require extensive knowledge of the local context, a network of allies, and experience teaching in naturalistic contexts. In other words, the cognitive load is too demanding for novice facilitators and great care should be taken not to go beyond your capabilities. Just as most marathon runners build up from 10k and 21k runs before attempting a full 42k, you should advocate for the right to build your trip up slowly. It is prudent to focus on making sure things run smoothly before worrying about extensive virtual preparation and bilateral exchanges.
